Hadashi (meaning "barefoot") tabi are very different in appearance from other tabi. They have a band of weatherproofing rubber around the exterior sole to help keep you dry in wet environments. Good for puddles, but the shoe as a whole is not waterproof. Currently Hadashi jika-tabi are available in sizes from 23cm through to 28cm with twelve fastening tabs.

The external material is black, 100% cotton with a tan-colored, sturdy-rubber bottom. The inside is lined with a thin, white cotton material and the insole is a thick cotton padding. The construction of these is quite different from other tabi giving them a distinctive look.
